As a health and fitness professional for over 30 years, Jane teaches evidence‑based strategies in healthy eating, exercise, and behavior change so individuals can create healthier lifestyles and achieve controlled, sustainable weight.
Her Master’s degree in Health Psychology grounds her approach in behavioral theory, emphasizing exercise adherence, healthy eating, incremental goal progress, and the development of self‑regulatory skills. She uses personally tailored approaches that consider emotions, stress, body image, and self‑talk as essential components of long‑term habit formation.
In her early association with Rutgers University, she collaborated with Dr. James Annesi on research examining how group cohesion, self‑efficacy, and mood influence exercise and eating behaviors. Their more recent research collaborations were on psychological predictors of controlled eating. She also contributed to the longitudinal Women’s Health Initiative and has applied translational behavioral‑medicine approaches across numerous fitness, medical, and health‑promotion centers, including Englewood Health Medical Center and Spectrum for Living. She has presented health and fitness seminars on weight management, youth development, and ACE‑tailored pre‑certification programs.
Her ongoing focus is to provide individuals with the tools, skills, and evidence‑based methods needed to develop and maintain healthier habits, informed by the most current research findings in behavioral, medical, and exercise science.

Dr. James Annesi is a leading health behavior-change researcher and Research Associate with ICF International for the National Cancer Institute’s Evidence-Based Cancer Control Programs. He also serves as Adjunct Research Professor at California State University, Monterey Bay. Formerly a professor at UAB, Dr. Annesi has held research and clinical roles across major institutions including Rutgers, the VA, and the YMCA.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Health Behavior, The Obesity Society, and multiple American Psychological Association divisions, he has authored 250+ peer-reviewed publications and four books on exercise adherence, emotional eating, and self-regulation. His NIH-certified interventions have been implemented in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia, supporting populations with obesity, diabetes, cancer recovery, and more.
Recognized among the top 0.5% of researchers globally for productivity, Dr. Annesi’s work has shaped scalable, evidence-based protocols for physical activity and mental health. He’s contributed to outlets like the New York Times, WebMD, and PBS, and served as editor for The Permanente Journal and Health Behavior Research.

I believe that, while changes in health behaviors can be challenging to maintain, they can be facilitated by the use of the best available behavioral science - much of which my own research helped develop.
